Domaine des Raynières

The Domaine des Raynières, now run by Sylvain Rebeilleau, dates back to 1840. The vineyard is planted with Chenin for the whites and Cabernet Franc for the reds. The vines are cultivated using sustainable methods and are all grassed. Vinification takes place in an air-conditioned cellar with temperature-controlled stainless steel vats. The 32-hectare vineyard is planted mainly on clay-limestone soil. It is planted with Chenin for the whites (Saumur Blanc and Saumur Mousseux) and Cabernet for the reds (Saumur-Champigny and Saumur rouge). The tuffeau (limestone subsoil) gives the region's wines a special character, as it absorbs excess water during the winter and releases it during periods of drought. As a result, the vines undergo little stress, producing full-bodied, supple wines.
