Domaine du Four à Chaux

For 7 generations, the Norguet family has run its Domaine du Four à Chaux, in the heart of the Vendôme region at Thoré-la-Rochette. The Four à Chaux is a protected site dating back to 1767, a vestige of the time when tuffeau, a soft clay-limestone with flint extracted from the hillsides, was used to build the Loire castles, the surrounding manor houses and the houses of the Loire region. In a traditional setting, the estate boasts magnificent two-hundred-year-old troglodyte cellars, dedicated to the ageing of local wines. Today, they have become convivial places where tastings of red, white, rosé and gray wines are organized. Dominique Norguet, winemaker, cultivates 29 hectares of vines.
